Those Heart Shaped Boxes

by: http://www.mytextinthecity.com
Well, we are three weeks into the New Year and as always it's tough to keep New Year resolutions. One of mine was to keep up with my blog. As you can see...I am falling a bit behind.
Anyway, have been working hard on Text in the City. It's a blast. We get great questions from all over the world! Someone recently wrote in from Tokyo, and it was good reminder that no matter what we are going through, someone in the world is going through the same thing!
I want to take this time to say thank you to everyone who has been so supportive in this new venture. I always welcome any new ideas or topics. Our 24 hour text messaging service is around the corner. I will be sure to update everyone when it's about to launch.

I also want to take this chance to talk about Valentine's Day. One day after Christmas, I started seeing those red heart shaped boxes popping up all over the stores! They were actually sitting new to set of Christmas lights and candy canes that had been reduced! What in the world.
Anyway, I know it can feel like the worst time to be single, but in some ways it's the best! For the next few weeks, love yourself, don't worry about whether or not you are going to get 2 dozen red roses on your desk, have a romantic dinner February 14th or get a heart shaped box of chocolate [remember they've been sitting on shelves since December 26th anyway!!!]
I typed out a few reason why Valentine's Day isn't just for lovers anymore! Enjoy!

If you are single on Valentine's Day, take advantage of the holiday to
make meeting someone extremely easy. Believe it or not Valentine's
Day is one of the best days to meet Mr. Right! It's true.
Step into any bar, restaurant, coffee shop, from February 12th - 15th,
and you're going to find singles just looking for the right gal or guy to
come along and sweep them off their feet! So, now that you are
ready to hit the scene...what to do and where to go?

Take a class!

Have you always wanted to learn how to pick the right wine at
dinner, make the perfect lasagna or learn how to tango? One-day
classes are readily available throughout whatever city you live in.
Check online or call a local college, cooking school or dance studio to
find out more information. Imagine, you’ll learn something new, have
fun and maybe meet the person of your dreams!

Pamper that hopeless romantic…YOU!
Light the candles, draw that sexy hot bubble bath and pop open that
nice bottle of Merlot you have been saving…it’s time for a romantic
night…IN! Giving yourself the full spa treatment and pampering every
inch of that body of yours is a great way to celebrate your single life
on Valentine’s Day. Here’s our favorite idea, schedule a home visit
from a top notch masseur, cue that sexy movie you love on Netflix and
order in a few rolls of sushi. You’ll thank yourself in the morning!

Bring Along a Friend

Don’t go it alone. If you have a single friend who’s also spending
Valentine’s Day solo, plan something fun to do together. Get tickets for
that hard to see show or concert. Afterwards grab a quick cocktail or
coffee, who knows who you both will end up chatting with. Having a
trusted wing-man or wing-gal is always a helpful asset when
navigating the mysterious waters of the dating world!

Love Somebody
Volunteer your time. Sign up to help build a house with Habitat for
Humanity, give blood or become a Big Brother or Big Sister. Local vet
hospitals often need extra hands to aid in the caring and treatment of
animals in need. There are so many things you can offer to those who
could use a helping hand. By giving your time, you might just be
opening yourself up to a wonderful introduction of a like minded, big
hearted fellow single.

Sweets for the Sweet!
It’s THE day that everyone expects either flowers or candy. Just
because you’re a single, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out. Since
you are treating “yourself,” you don’t have to settle for that boring old
box of milk chocolate samplers. Be bold; try some of the exotic varieties
that are available. Match them with some fresh cut orchids for the
table (pass on the roses), it’s the perfect Valentine’s Day gift list that’s
fit for a queen... you!
